What is a Torrent Extended Warranty?

A Pontiac Torrent service contract is a promise to perform (or pay for) certain repairs of services. Most consumers call this a "Pontiac Torrent Extended Warranty", however a Pontiac Torrent service contract is not a extended warranty as defined by federal law. The separate and additional cost distinguishes a service contract from a Pontiac warranty. A General Motors Protection Plan (GMPP) may be arranged at any time and always costs extra; a Pontiac Torrent factory warranty comes with a new Pontiac Torrent and is included in the original price of the vehicle.

Torrent Factory Warranty:

New Vehicle Limited Warranty on Torrent vehicles registered in the U.S.A. are covered for 3 years or 36,000 miles, whichever comes first (some GM products may have additional coverage). The complete vehicle is covered, including tires, towing to your nearest Pontiac Torrent dealership, and cosmetic corrosion resulting from defects. Repairs will be made to correct any vehicle defect, and most warranty repairs will be made at no charge. In addition, rust-through corrosion will be covered for 6 years/100,000 miles (whichever comes first). See your Pontiac Torrent dealer for details.

Corrosion Protection

Torrent are designed and built to resist corrosion. All body and sheet metal components are warranted against rust-through corrosion for 6 years/100,000 miles (whichever comes first). Application of additional rust-inhibiting materials is not required under the corrosion coverage and none is recommended. See your Pontiac Torrent dealer for terms of this limited warranty.

Assembly

Torrent's and their components are assembled or produced by different operating units of General Motors, its subsidiaries, or suppliers to Pontiac worldwide. General Motors sometimes find it necessary to produce Torrent vehicles with different or differently sourced components than originally scheduled. Since some options may be unavailable when your vehicle is assembled, General Motors suggests you verify that your Torrent includes the equipment you ordered and that, if there were changes, they are acceptable to you.

Engines

Torrent are equipped with engines produced by Pontiac Powertrain or other suppliers to Pontiac worldwide. The engines in Pontiac products may also be used in other Pontiac makes and models.

An Important Note About Alterations and Pontiac Warranties

Installations or alterations to the original equipment vehicle (or chassis) as distributed by General Motors are not covered by the General Motors New Vehicle Limited Warranty. The special body company, assembler, equipment installer, or upfitter is solely responsible for warranties on the body or equipment and any alterations (or any effect of the alterations) to any of the parts, components, systems, or assemblies installed by Pontiac. General Motors is not responsible for the safety or quality of design features, materials, or workmanship of any alterations by such suppliers.
